PEACE

PEACE

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

The Word of GOD has been given to us for our learning so that we may be used as HIS vessel so others will see HIM through us.  It gives instructions on how we should live, share, give, and love, but the most important is love;

1 Corinthians 13:13: and now abides faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity (love). We should resemble GOD in how we show that Love towards one another.

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

However we won’t know how to do any of these if we don’t pick up HIS Word – Read it, Study it, and Most Importantly, Apply it to our lives – according to

Peace defined: Peace (of mind) is a sense of tranquility and confidence where our mental balance is in accord with universal understanding.  Basically, we have within ourselves the tools to deal with adversity.  This ability occurs through mind control, where the effects of any external factors such as stress are also blocked.

I admit peace is not so simple to achieve, its more effort than just saying I want peace in my space *the mind*. Having a peace of mind is more important than keeping the body fit and the spirit young.  Considering all the difficult challenges in our world it is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve serenity.  Suffering is something that happens and is inevitable in everyone’s life.  However, challenges are all so powerful detonators for potential for human growth, overcoming and the ability to move forward.

There are huge benefits to having a Peace of Mind!

No one has a trouble-free life.  All of us have battles to contend with, and the biggest difference is how each deal with those issues, the reaction to the events, and how we take care of them.  One can transcend to a state of imprisonment that blinds and or sets you free, that’s having a “peace of mind”.  With a peace of mind does not mean one is ignoring issues or problems.  You know if you have issues, but you’re not being affected by it (which will essentially lead to a better quality of life).  The key is to acknowledge and view issues/problems but doing so without ultimately falling apart. Very few people achieve this balance – it takes work.

Well now that I have you thinking?  How does one achieve a peace of mind – You can’t! Unless one is willing to change the (root). Acknowledging the root of your lack of peace are needed to achieve this goal.  Obtaining a new insight into your life and the role you need to play in it to change the outcome.

Get a new in site of your “own” life and the role you play in it.  Focusing on external is not the answer, but internal/scriptural/spiritual is and needs to be the focus.

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Often our minds wonder – it’s a natural thing that happens, but when that happens too much it makes people feel restless and/or stressed.  In order for there to be inner peace your mind needs to be intact.  Practicing optimism is essential.  If you condition yourself for a bad day- you will have a bad day.  When having a negative thought – think of something nice, like a cute baby, butterflies, and the smell of the aftermath of a beautiful spring rain.  That will make a smile then remember one thing you are thankful to GOD (which leads/takes one in the thought of mediation).

Meditation stimulates creativity and opens doors to solve problems in ways that you would not have thought of before.    Simple concentration is an act that can be very beneficial in your life and it will help you cope with stress.  Learning this practice of meditation will help your calmness inwardly.  Another way to help you relax is Yoga.  Oh, I love this act of relaxation.  Before Covid-19, I would go to Bikram Hot Yoga like clockwork and I loved it.  It’s a different way of meditation.    When I’m comfortable with it again I will go back.  I add that if you’re not prepared or think Yoga will be a good fit, walking is another one of the easiest forms of relaxation. Making sure you are equipped to maintain your peace starts mentally, and a great second starter is physical exercise.  **I am so not guilty of this as I should be*** LOL Take a step!

I share these concepts of my own experience to give a new way. I know and I want you to know that our lives don’t typically go the way of our plans, and when we realize its not going accordingly then we sometime worry about our future. But in reality, reality does not meet the expectations and we get upset or annoyed, however there is a solution.  Remember that if/when things don’t happen the way we want does not mean that God is still rooting for you.  (Relax and Breathe)

Anther way to help you get to a peaceful place is reading.  I’ve found reading is one of the greatest gifts that can assist with my peace.  It’s not only a great hobby, but also gives a great capacity for concentration as well as reasoning.  When beginning this very relaxing endeavor don’t focus on the entire book but take 15-20 minutes to begin.  (It’s not hard – I guarantee) I’ve found it good to read in the evening and it can be very unwinding.  My preference is the Bible, but any book is encouraged to be read. Here are a few of my likes that are great reads, *** Prayer of Jabez for Woman, Women of the Bible Speak***  I’ve found these two most gratifying.

Matthew 6:26-27 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Just because things aren’t happening like you want or expect doesn’t mean your not on the path GOD has for you.  Look at it  as if there’s a lesson to learn and as you go through this situation (detours) – don’t allow these to invade or steal your PEACE (One might even quote in your mind The Serenity Prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference…. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at at time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as HE did, this sinful world as it is; not as I would have it; trusting that HE will make all things night if I surrender to HIS Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with HIM forever in the next…(1944 written by Reinhold Niebbuhr)

Hey do you remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? The ultimate moral lesson of the story is that resilience is not a competition of speed, but accuracy and in doing things slowly and steadily its much better than acting quickly and carelessly.  Taking one step at a time literally like the tortoise, slowly and surely. The biggest key is more learning with less haste.

John 16:33   These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

One thing that I need to stress again is that our lives are/will never be “free from trouble”.  We all have personal battles to contend with.  The triumph is how you deal with “our” issues, reactions to events and how we take care of ourselves.  With having a “peace of mind” one can gravitate from a place of imprisonment to setting yourself free.

Ignoring the problem is not the ultimate goal – acknowledging them is important, but not allowing them to emotionally or physically affect you.  Creating a place in your mind that removes the heavy burdens from not having lack of peace, then and only then will you be able to look and behave less like an erupting volcano 🙂 .  Now we can review the ways to help with that ability.

Having someone to trust is very important, strength is not a prelude to feeling, but it’s knowing how to handle them.  It is so natural when faced with adversity one feels overwhelmed and tearful.  Bottling up those emotions can cause physical health to dwindle and also cause depression and loneliness.  Your loved ones and friends want to support you even in challenging parts of your life.  If you need help and someone to talk to they are your first contact, and I am an advocate for mental health therapy. So, I share with you if you are in need of professional help please do not hesitate to seek such help.

So no matter what problems come your way be clear always about the good and positive things you have in your life.  You are separate from your problems, concerns and all of the frustrations in and around your life.  When you feel overwhelmed, step back and check your mind, body (if pain – mentally and physically) with your learning how to work that problem will dissipate and help you in your learning how to have PEACE.

Peace with leave you in a place of Self-Love and when you are practicing Self-Love you will treat yourself with love, forgive yourself and treat yourself the same way you treat a loved one.  You know you nurture and show kindness to your loved ones so do the same to yourself.

You can love yourself -you deserve it.

Philippians 4:7   And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Each day will be different than the day before but taking moment by moment is essential. Everyday is a new day and a new opportunity to make things better and keep growing in GOD.  Don’t focus on the past but improve on all the great things HE has in store for you.  Keep peace in the forefront of your mind.  Each day is a new beginning and you can relearn how not to allow frustration and negativity to remove your peace.  It’s up to you to make that choice.  You can do it!!!
