Acting Like Jesus

Hey My Loves,

Last week it was suggested that you all spend some quiet time in GOD’s presence meditating and giving him your attention.  I know you did – me too!

So to keep in line of our continuous goal, we have some good meat to #ChristianGirlsChat about.

Have you ever heard:

“You Don’t Act Like a Christian!”

We’ve all heard at one time or another – They don’t act like a Christian! Maybe you’ve said it about someone or it was possibly sent in your direction. Well, don’t be sad, because if you are practicing the Will of God you will hear it one time or another.

Let’s start with the basics:

CHRISTIAN (noun): a. One who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ. b. A member of the Church of Christ …

We all may put that definition of Christ-like behavior differently.

Jesus gave a perfect example on how the word should be interpreted.  HE being the Word is the example and not only did HE give the example, but He taught us how to make it happen.  Christian behavior is not something that happens automatically.  It takes time, patience but especially prayer and self-awareness to be more like HIM.

Sisters, when we women birth a baby, adopt or help rear a child – from the moment that baby is born, we don’t expect that newborn to feed itself, change its diaper or walk and talk do we?  Why? Because we know that is unrealistic.   According to society, a baby/child is not considered “mature” until he or she is 18 years old.  Then are they expected to display adult behavior.  However (those of us who have reared one or two) still have low expectations of them at that age.  LOL right?!!  If you know like I know it sometimes takes 20 years for some babies to begin displaying adult behavior.

Since we are so aware of that then we also should practice the same type of grace, patience and understanding for our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Some of “us” tend to mature quicker than others and they need our behavior to be that of when we are handling a baby.  Many of us come to Jesus with a great deal of baggage. But GOD with His miraculous ability does surgery to the heart to get them to the ‘baby cycle’ (through baptism).

Please let’s keep that in mind and not be so eager to judge the “new babe”, or have unrealistic expectations of them in order to see how they measure up.

Don’t forget GOD is not finished with “me” yet!  Either!  ☺

With that said:  Let’s prepare for battle.

1 Peter 1:13-16 13. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. 15. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16. Because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.

Peter is telling us to get rid of whatever it is that’s keeping you from running your Christian race.

What are you tripping over?

Trash it and prepare for action – be prepared to focus on Christ.

When we get distracted just remember to pivot and refocus!

1 Peter 2:1-2.  1. Wherefore laying aside all malice and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings. 2. As newborn babies desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby.

In order for this to happen there are a number of ways to feast because the more you do, the more you will want to do.

How about joining a Bible Study?  Send me a note because I have some recommendations.

Jesus said we are to LOVE each OTHER.

Have a listen below:

Love One Another

1 Peter 4:8-9 8. And above all things have fervent charity (love) among yourselves: for charity (love) shall cover the multitude of sins, 9. Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

Jesus made it Very clear to his disciples that we must LOVE one another.

John 13:35  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Think of how a paternal or maternal physical family loves each other and look out for each other are we not be more than that being a part of the Body of Christ.

Ephesians 5:25.  Husband love your wives – as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it.

Husbands and wives should submit to one another and train their children to be obedient towards their elders and kind to their peers.

Love makes it easy to strive for unity.

It comes automatic when we practice the teaching that we read in

Galatians 5:22-23 (which embodies all the attributes of love) 22.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23.  Meekness, temperance, against such there is no law.

Have you ever noticed that in all the letters of the New Testament LOVE is the driving force?

It so is!!!  Go see!!!

In doing GOD’s Will and practicing Love, do not for one second believe that you will not be tried and tested.

1 Peter 4:12-16 12. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. 13. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy 14. if ye be reproached (criticized) for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of GOD resteth upon you; on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified 15. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men ‘s matters. 16. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glrofify God on this behalf.

Keep in mind that Jesus faced rejection, ridicule, and ultimately the Cross.

Jesus says rejoice when you partake in HIS sufferings.  It is an honor to suffer for Christ.

The devil is seeking you and you can resist him.  All Christians are experiencing the sufferings along with you.

So take it as an honor to suffer along with Christ.

1 Peter 5:8-9 8. Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour: 9.  Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

You are no longer a prisoner of satan.

Do you all remember The Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones?

Jones was determined to capture Ford and he was not going to give up.

Think about it: when a prisoner escapes – a manhunt is out and they do not stop until they capture the fugitive.  That’s how satan is about you. But you have the Blood of Jesus covering you, and with that you can resist him!

Do GOD’s work and when we do HIS work GOD will do all things good in our lives.

Remain faithful

2 Peter 3:14.  Wherefore beloved seeing that ye look for such things be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless.

Remember if we want to grow and mature (like the baby) and be further in our Christian walk with Jesus we need to begin making small changes today.

WE can begin  by taking bits of time in our day to spend time with GOD.  Make a point to spend time in HIS Word by praying, memorizing and meditating.

Take some time fellowshipping with your Christian Sisters.  Make that a Priority.

If we are faithful to his word and practice loving we will grow daily and become More Like JESUS – just faithful living – every second, every minute, every hour, every day – 4 JESUS

You Can Do It!!!
