Power of Prayer

In my last post I asked you to consider (3) questions: 1. What do you need?  2. Where are you in your spiritual race/walk and (3) How can it be made better?

In considering the intent and vision of my conversation with you I believed regarding question no. 1 your answer would be JESUS.  The answers to the second and third questions will be more detailed in the response.  Well let’s address that.

Our need to follow Jesus should be our primary focus as we go through this “Beautiful Life” that GOD has given us.  HE expects us meet each day with a positive attitude and an abundance amount of Joy.

Galatians 5:22 – But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, faith…

and

James 1:2 – My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.   Not only are we to focus on our walk, but help others along the road as well – which leads to the spiritual race we are in and how we can improve.

Personally I find that it has been beneficial for me to begin my day with Prayer.  I also have come to realize that you don’t have to kneeling on the floor by your bed to pray (not that it’s not a great place) but you can pray anywhere.  You can be driving down the road, sitting at the bus stop, walking in the park or even in the shower.  I’ve prayed almost anywhere even at 30,000 feet in the air.  LOL

The definition of PRAYER is:

 a) an address (such as a petition) to GOD in word or thought and

 b) an earnest request wish, or express gratitude.

I grew up hearing about prayer, being told to pray, but as a little kid you don’t understand the true meaning until you begin praying for yourself.  My first real memory of a heavy prayer is when my grandmother was deathly ill and eventually passed away.  I remember going to the funeral and my Mom crying (of course something’s are a bit foggy).  Such as the place I was standing or who was around me due to me being so young.  Then I remember seeing her praying a prayer of Thanksgiving for allowing GOD for giving GranMa Aggie to her.

Memories of significant moments leave profound stamps for us.  They validate the importance of what GOD wants us to remember and use possibly at a later time.  I believe this this story is one of those instances that I was meant to share with you. I needed to remember MY MOM praying through a very difficult moment in her life so that it would play a part in how and why I would embrace my own prayer life.  I know when we pray we are placing a petition at GOD’s feet and usually we are requesting something – and that is exactly what we are supposed to do.

James 1:5 – If any of you lack wisdom, Let him ask of GOD, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him.

and

1 John: 5:14 – And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, If we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.

Praying is a wonderful avenue that GOD set up for us to talk directly to HIM.  HE wants us to visit with HIM and use this venue whenever we feel the need.  I find it so good for the soul and I guarantee if you use it – it will soothe your soul.

A healthy prayer life is essential to our spiritual growth, but it’s not the only thing we MUST do for spiritual growth.  There are other items that help and we will get into that later.

Remember praying is just having a conversation with your Father and telling HIM what you want.  Have you ever wanted to talk to GOD, and didn’t know what to say? I like attributing that to talking to a friend on the phone.  Call them – ‘Hey Jo, are you busy’,  (remember God is never too busy for us). Then start the conversation.  Make sure you tell HIM how wonderful HE is and just how happy you are that HE loves you.  Tell HIM you are grateful for being alive and for your family.  Tell GOD about your day (good or bad), but in the end of the prayer don’t forget to Thank HIM.  Oh yes it’s that easy to talk to OUR FATHER.

I will share something with you that I like to use that really helps to pray often and that the Bible App.  Oh what a wonderful tool especially if you don’t know where to begin.  Just Google it and many different Bible prayer apps will jump on the screen of your phone.   LOL

Praying is essential for you Christian Sister.  Our children, grandchildren need to know that we are talking to GOD and that we can tell him what we are concerned about or fears, the world, our finances our children or even our spouses and HE won’t repeat it to anyone.

Oh by the way I believe in selfish prayers – yes! You can tell GOD what you want or need.

Remember to pray for others, even your enemies ☺.  He tells us in

Matthew 5:44 – “But I say unto you, Love our enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

GOD KNOWS YOUR HEART!  When you are praying you can be pouring out your heart.  I like thinking of it as if GOD is scooping me up in his arms, cradling me and whispering in my ear (through HIS Word).

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

So My Loves, let’s take out some time for the next few days and focus on talking to our FATHER and giving HIM a few moments of our time.  HE will love visiting with you.
